I have had NukeNews for about 2.5 weeks now and have got it all setup, running, and have a pretty good understanding of it. Tonight, I just purchaced NukeFeeds in hope of seting up a gaming software/hardware reviews section. One of the features I plan on having is mulitple RSS feeds to one module on my front page where I'll have my latests Xbox Game review (1), my latest Xbox Hardware review (1), my latest Playstation2 Game review (1), and my latest Playstation2 Hardware review; for a total of 4 feeds. On paper this seems to be a very easy task combining NukeNews and NukeFeeds, but I am having trouble just getting the basics of this module to work.

I have a review written in my Xbox Games review section. To get the "Feed URL" for this review, I make sure "Publish RSS Link" is checked to 'yes' on my review. I then click on the XML gif/link that is displayed and copy the link that is presented in my browser's address. I then go to my NukeNews Admin > Add, edit and delete feeds > New Feed > and in the URL section I paste this address that I aquired above ... Save. I go back to the page where I have the NukeFeeds module loaded, and see no feeds. There are no error messages either.

I have a basic RSS feeds module that only supports 1 feed; and when I paste the above address in there, the linked review title shows up fine. So I know the link is legit.

Any ideas why I am not able to get the feed to show up in NukeFeeds. Also, FYI, I am able to add my forums RSS feed into NukeFeeds and it works fine. It seem that I am only having issues adding a NukeNews feed.

Thanks

Also, do you have an opinion to best setup a reviews section? As of now, I am planning on setting up individual pages/tabs for each parent (ie Xbox Game Reviews). This will then allow me to have genres (categories) for each game type under that.

Page1 : XboxGameReviews > Categories (action, RPG, shooter, etc)
Page2 : XboxHardwareReviews > Categories (controllers, mods, etc)
Page3 : PS2GameReviews > Categories (action, RPG, shooter, etc)
Page4 : PS2HardwareReviews > Categories (controllers, mods, etc)

Then, I plan on having each page only show the latest review from each section (only allow 1 news entry to show before archiving). Each of the active reviews on each page will be fed to a NewFeeds module on my front home page.

Hopefully when you release you next update, static pages will be available. This will allow me to have seperate link to certain genres of games/ hardware.

Any ideas suggestions on making it easier?

Thanks

Alex,

Not sure what's going on with the feeds. Can you send me a link to the site with a temp admin user to rstieb at orizonti.com and I'll take a look.

Also, I have the next version of NukeNews in beta testing now which allows links to files, internal pages and external urls (as well as podcasting). I think you'll be very pleased with it. If you'd like to help with beta testing, just mention that in your email as well...

Thanks,
Russel

Well, I did absolutly nothing and now it seems to be working fine <img src=http://www.orizonti.com/DesktopModules/NTForums/images/emoticons/crazy.gif width=20 height=20> ; so let me click around and see what I can come up with.

I would love to try out the new version (1.4). Is there an easy upgrade, or will I need to manually transfer all my news/reviews?

Please send to

and

Thanks

Alex,

The upgrade is a simple install just like a new module. The install will overwrite the older files and keep all of your current data...

I'll send you the beta...

Thanks,

It's good to hear it saves all the old data.
I'll let you know how it all goes. I'm really excited to try out the new template layout for NukeNews. With the template feature in NukeNews, and my purchace of the NukeFeeds, I feel like your modules can do just about anything I need. I just have to use my imagination a little bit to structure it how I want. Thats the hard part =D
