I want to have all my feeds listed on one page (by the Feed Name I assign) and upon the user clicking the link, it will take them to the NukeFeed page with the content.

So far I have two test feeds (News and Cartoons) whose contents gets dumped into one page.

I first want to list the two feeds and upon clicking my choice, the selected page will appear.

Can you walk me through how to create such a scenario?

Bob,

It sounds like you're creating multiple pages with NukeFeeds modules on the individual pages. Correct?

Unless I'm missing something, which is quite possible, I would think you could link directly to the pages with either the links module or Text/HTML module.

Make sense???

Thanks,
Russel

Lets take your NukeFeeds demo page. You have two feeds running one after another: Gu and Zenmaster.

I don't want my feeds to run like that. I want an introductory page listing each feed available and upon click, it will take the user to that page with that one feed only.

The way it is now, in order for me to have ONE page dedicated to ONE feed, I have to create a separate page, add a NukeFeed module to that page and create a SEPARATE introductory page.

Think of your comics demo. That page is linked via the demo page. When I click on that link, it takes me to the comics feed page where it shows me comics only. But what if your demo page had BBC, CNN, ESPN and a Movies feed. How would Orizonti do it?

You see, the more feeds one has, the more work it becomes.

Ahhh... Makes a little more since...

I actually have already handled this as well. Its not documented, but you can force a feed a single feed to load in the module by passing it in the querystring.

The example below causes the NukeFeeds module with ModuleID 14 to load Feed ID 3 and display only that single feed.

http://localhost/DotnetNuke/Home/
tabid/1/nf14/3/default.aspx

You can get the feed ID from NukeFeeds Admin Edit Feeds. The ID column is shown in the listing. The module ID, you can pull from the "mid" variable when you are in the admin portion of the module.

Hopefully, this makes sense...

Let me know if this works for you...

Thanks,
Russel

P.S Make sure you have the latest version of NukeFeeds. I don't remember which version I put this in with, but it was fairly recent...

Okay, I see where you're going with this.

Here is the full url to the admin portion of the module:

http://intranet/RSSNewsFeeds/tabid/70/ctl/admin/mid/418/Default.aspx

Which translates to this url I would use in the links:

http://intranet/RSSNewsFeeds/tabid/70/nf418/1/Default.aspx

Am I correct so far? Because the result is a page not found and the address bar reading:

http://intranet/1

I just bought NukeFeeds v 1.31

Hi, I am having the same problem. Here is my news feed page:

http://www.dnn-zone.net/NewsHeadlines/RSSFeeds/tabid/115/Default.aspx

I also want to create a category page of feeds and link to the feed specified in the URL.

According to your suggestion, when I try the link:

http://www.dnn-zone.net/NewsHeadlines/RSSFeeds/tabid/115/nf492/3/Default.aspx

It does the same thing Bob stated. It takes me to:

http://www.dnn-zone.net/3

One of the reasons I purchased this module this weekend, I assumed it could do this. I guess thats what I get for not reading this forum before purchasing. Please help.

Also, I am caching the news feeds, yet they don't show up in DNN's search. What gives?

If I can't get this to work, I may have to ask for a refund. I hope it doesn't come to this.

I straightened this out over email and forgot to post it back on the forum. The post above has the wrong querystring parm.

Your URL should look like this:
http://www.dnn-zone.net/NewsHeadlines/RSSFeeds/tabid/115/feedid492/3/Default.aspx

Just verified on your site and it looks to be working properly.

On the search results, you'll need to look at your search indexer interval. I just searched and found several news items. Keep in mind, the RSS feeds are only pulled when the page is displayed (checks against frequency to determine if it's time to pull from the remote server again). Once cached, the search indexer will have to run to pick up any new articles... Hopefully, this makes sense...

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Russel
