hi,

you wrote a few months ago, that you've already started the development of mediagallery 2.

what's the current status, when you will finish and which features do you include?

thank you and best regards, andreas

Andreas,

MG 2.0 is still under development. I've got pulled on a few custom module projects, but I'm back working on MG 2 now. I'm not sure when it will be completely finished, but I hope to begin beta testing the beginning of next month.

Here are a few of the new features:
Java applet for multi-file uploads
Templated display
Comments & Ratings
and many more...

Let me know if you have any other questions...

Thanks,
Russel

hi russel,

the new features are good. especially the java applet is a good idea, because the current zip upload doesn't work as well as it should.

good luck!

bye, andreas

I agree and it's messy. The zip files get too large quickly...

I hope to have v2 ready soon...

Thanks,
Russel

Am looking forward to next version also.

A nice feature that I've seen in another gallery (SMcCulloch's) is a companion module that will display random thumbnails from a specific gallery, with links back to the gallery for further viewing.

Any word on the 2.0 release date? You mentioned that you were planning on beta testing in December. Is a beta available for use? My image gallery is getting quite large and I'd really like the option to locally load files and upload them without zipping them, since this requires a collection of small zip files to get all the pictures uploaded. I recently came across Polle Picture Gallery (PiGa) 2.0.9 which uses a Windows tool to manage galleries. Is this similiar to the local gallery management you have mentioned? Thanks.

Should have it ready in the next couple of weeks... It's taken much longer than I had hoped, but I believe it'll be worth the wait. I've actually integrate a java applet for the multi-file uploads. This will allow it to be used from any location. If you email me directly at rstieb at orizonti.com, I'll put you on the list for the beta version...

Thanks,
Russel

Just thought I'd keep this thread alive. It's been three months since your last post on the subject so I'd thought I'd take a little break from twidling my thumbs and drop a note letting you know we're still looking forward to the next version. :-)

Yup, I haven't forgotten... I've got a couple of big projects that are wrapping up and I should be able to get back on this in the next week or so...

Thanks,
Russel

P.S. Sorry this is taking so long...

Oh that crazy briany.

Really though, NukeNews and Nukefeeds are GREAT modules. Too bad the Media Gallery just isn't in the same class. An update would sure be welcome news.
